We’ve been busy over the weekend getting the new http://lilgrams.com site launched and also adding in a couple of important tweaks to the way comments work – based on the great feedback from our parents.
Comment Display
We’ve gotten some feedback that using just the relationship name is not the best since, naturally, babies can have multiple aunts, uncles, and grandparents. The new comments output not only a thumbnail of who made the comment but also shows their name.
Comment Notifications
When a new comment is added to your baby book, we’ll automatically send you a quick email so you know.
Comment Management
Comments can now be deleted by parents if they find anything wrong with the contents.
We’ve always provided a number of different automagic ways to share memories with loved ones, from emails to facebook notices, to tweets. We’ve gotten a number of requests for some other ways to spread the word.
As of today, if you browse to any single gram’s page, you can quickly and easily share that gram with anyone – even if they’re not in your address book. Don’t worry, though, only the people marked as Parents in your Address Book even see this option.
There are 3 ways to share:
Public Link
This link can be given to anyone via email, IM, or more. The special thing about this link is that it won’t require and kind of sign in – so use it carefully!
Email To
Sometimes, you really want to send someone the great emails that we already send to you but forwarding emails around can mess up the styling. Just type an email address in here and we’ll deliver a brand new one to your friend. While they can see the email, they’ll still have to log in to see the real thing.
Facebook Share
We know most of our parents are big users of Facebook and we want to make sure your friends there stay up to date. If you click the Share link, you’ll be given the option of sending a link out to the gram. These links will still require that your friend log in, though.
We’re still trying to figure out if you’d like more public or private links, or the option to choose. We welcome any feedback you have in helping shape this feature.
We’ve been busy working over the past few weeks to improve the way that invitations are sent out to loved ones. This was initially prompted by some changes in the way Facebook allows notifications to happen, but we’ve made improvements overall now that we think will be better for everyone.
